Lumberjacks Split weekend games, December 12th Fast Approaching

Sturgeon Falls Ontario- On Friday night the Jacks pulled out a heroic Shootout win over the visiting Seguin Huskies in front of a large supportive crowd, The game started with major physicality with some hard hits, the score would be 0-0 after one period with the Jacks heavily outshooting the Huskies by a 17-7 margin, the second period was again controlled by the Jacks as the score board began to light up, as Aaron Sullivan and Connor Lamothe scored 5 minutes apart to make it 2-0 Jacks, the Huskies would add a single 2 minutes later off the stick of Austin Burke to cut the lead down to 2-1, Texas Native Tyler Freed would put the Jacks again up by two with a top shelf marker to give the Jacks a 3-1 lead, The Huskies however turned up the pressure in the final 5 minutes applying major pressure and potting a goal mouth scramble loose puck past Lumberjack Starter Stephan Wallach to again cut the lead down to one. A very fortunate bounce near the end of the period allowed former Huskie Tristan Archambaulte to wrist home a bouncer off the end boards to again put the Jacks up 4-2, the period would end that way. The Third however was all Huskies, as they scored 3 unanswered goals to take a 5-4 lead, The Jacks managed to tie the game up 5-5 thanks to Stephan Palos, who netted his first of the year on a nice pass from Tyler Freed. The Jacks though would run into some penalty trouble and Roman Muratov was sent off with an unsportsmanlike game misconduct paving the way for the Huskies to take the lead 6-5. With the game looking lost Head coach Lui Ricci called a time out. The play worked as Aaron Sullivan netted his second of the game on a breakaway to send the game to extra time and the crowd wild with cheers, after a scoreless overtime, a shootout was needed. After 7 rounds of shooters and no goal scorers Assistant Captain Kyle Wheatherall scored on the 7th shootout attempt, Stephan Wallach played hero and stopped the Seguin Shooter to give the Jacks a huge win, the fans showed there appreciation with load cheers as it was one of the larger crowds of the season. Shots on goal favored the Lumberjacks 56-46. The Three Stars were Kyle Wheatherall, Aaron Sullivan, and Tyler Freed.  

Saturday night however was different story, the Jacks lost a very important divisional game against the Bracebridge Blues by a score of 10-6, Goal Scorers in the game were Aaron Sullivan with two, Tristan Archimabaulte, Ben Miller, and Michel Hodkinson with his first two goals of the season. Shots ended 51-47 Jacks, Ben Blana was the starter, but was replaced in the second by Ted Bunton.

ICE CHIPS: The Lumberjacks sport a respectable 4-2-1 record on home ice this season, however on the road they are a dismal 2-11-0 and will need to find a way to win, Friday Night marked the debut of Brady Cloutier who had a point in the win, Cloutier was a scratch Saturday night as he had a previous family commitment. Next up for the Jacks is a re match vs the Blues Friday December 4th in Sturgeon Falls, Puck drop is 8:30pm.

Reminder: The Jacks on December 12th 2015 will be hosting a match vs the Temiscaming Titans in support of epilepsy awareness, The Lumberjacks will be wearing special jerseys available for auction, and donations from gate sales will be going to support individuals fighting the disease. The Lumberjacks are really hoping that we can fill the rink for a good night of family fun, while supporting a good cause.
